This wedding almost didn’t happen. A few weeks before it, Craig met me in the Tinderbox on Buchanan Street to chat about the song choices, and I didn’t want to ever let him leave. This guy knows his music! I kept him there for about an hour and a half until he politely made his escape.
It was lovely to meet Emma on the night and I am sure she also had a big say in the playlist we worked from. The list was so exceptional that we hardly strayed from it. It was just a matter of judging what to play and when. The final 3 songs were Suede’s Beautiful Ones, you get what you give by The New Radicals, and Heroes. Craig acknowledged that you get what you give was a bit of a dodgy one-hit wonder and wondered if we could cut it short and mix it into Heroes. Ultimately I think there would have been outrage on the dancefloor if it had been cut short, so we settled for looping the final vocals and blending into Heroes, which is handily the exact same BPM (speed). I suspect Craig and Emma knew that already. They know their music! Congratulations to them both on a fabulous wedding day.
